8. Mindfulness and Meditation

w/ Jon Macaskill & Will Schneider

Jon Macaskill is a retired Navy SEAL who has become a mindfulness and meditation teacher. He now works with high-performing teams to help them deal with stress, anxiety, and depression while increasing focus, creativity, and productivity. Will Schneider is a yoga instructor and mindfulness coach with over nineteen years of experience. He is one of the most sought-after teachers in all of New York City (ClassPass 2017). Together, Jon and Will host the Men Talking Mindfulness podcast, now in its sixth season.

We spoke for over two hours and ended up having two distinct conversations. So, I’ve divided the podcast into two episodes for those reasons. This first half is primarily focused on mindfulness and meditation. We also touch on their upcoming retreat in upstate New York, yoga, and societal norms about men.

RARE SENSE
RARE SENSE
The Uncommon Pursuit of Mind Fitness.
RARE SENSE® is hosted by Chris Irwin, a Navy SEAL veteran who faced chronic mental and physical illness for over a decade after his military service. Throughout his journey, he delved into various aspects of mental training, including meditation, breathing exercises, emotional release techniques, and energy work. This pursuit eventually led to the complete alleviation of his symptoms, both mental and physical. He emerged with a profound understanding of what it takes to build a genuinely fit mind. On this podcast, Chris uses the knowledge he gained during that journey to discuss the modern mental health landscape while being completely vulnerable and open about his own experiences and struggles. Mental health isn't something to just treat. It's something to train.
